Transfer eSIM feature for Android phones released this year

The development of eSIM technology sparked Google to bring these supporting features in smartphone Androids. The plan is for the eSIM transfer feature to be released on Android phones at the end of 2023.

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 event, Google announced that it had collaborated with technology industry organizations such as GSMA and CSA to establish security standards and labeling practices for smartphone devices.

As a result of this collaboration, Google will launch the eSIM transfer feature on Android phones at the end of this year. A feature that makes it easy for users to move cellular numbers and data from one smartphone eSIM-supported smartphone to another smartphone that supports similar technology.

“Later this year, based on the GSMA global standard we are bringing new eSIM transfer capabilities to Android that allow users to quickly and securely transfer their mobile data to a new device, without having to swap physical SIM cards,” Google said.

Although it has not confirmed the exact time of its launch, it is said that Deutsche Telekom from Germany will be the first operator to receive support for this eSIM transfer feature.

“Deutsche Telekom is taking the first step in using this industry standard to enable simple and secure transfers with eSIM for the Android ecosystem,” Google said in a statement. The telephone from Gadget 360 on Friday (03/03/2023).

In addition to announcements related to features supporting eSIM technology, Google also shares the latest Android capabilities on smartphone recently launched from its partner brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo and Xiaomi.

Specifically, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, which were also released at the MWC 2023 event, will have support for the digital car key feature. Likewise, other recent cellphones, such as the Oppo Find N2 Flip and OnePlus 11, have received the Nearby Share feature.

Previously at MWC 2023, Google also introduced 9 new features for devices based on Android and Wear OS, as well as the Google Meet application. Several features will be launched immediately on February 27, 2023.
