Initial Test of Dimensity 9200 on AnTuTu, Faster Performance

Advertisment

Last year, a phone powered by the Dimensity 9000 managed to score 1 million points on the AnTuTu Benchmark. This year, the early tests of the Dimensity 9200 promised better performance with a higher score.

Initial testing of MediaTek Dimensity 9200 on AnTuTu Benchmark gave a total score of 1.26 million, or an increase of 26% compared to the previous generation.

When announcing this new chipset, MediaTek did say a 5% performance increase for CPU and 10% for GPU performance, compared to the old Dimensity 9000+ chipset.

In practice, the Dimensity 9000+ chipset can score up to 1.13 million points. So compared to the Dimensity 9200 results, there is an increase in performance.

But it’s a bit odd because the bullet points show that the CPU score is on par with what the 9000 chip gets. And if you look at the temperature chart, it seems that this chipset wasn’t tested too hard, or maybe because of a better cooling system.

According to Digital Chat StationThe Dimensity 9200 has a Cortex-X3 CPU core, up from the X2, so expect a higher CPU score. But until now it is still unknown what device was used in the Antutu test.

However, the GPU scores higher at 550K, well above what the 9000+ chip used on the Asus ROG Phone 6D Ultimate achieved, which hit around 430K.

Digital Chat Station says that MediaTek uses ARM’s latest Immortalis-G715, the most powerful GPU. In addition to being the first in hardware support for ray tracing.

Immortalis-G715 promises 15% performance increase in rendering graphics above the G710 used in older chips (and a 300% improvement when using ray tracing).

Although it is not yet known what device it will use, these results suggest that the Dimensity 9200 will be a worthy successor to the standard 9000 and plus versions, which some flagship smartphones use, as an alternative to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8(+) Gen 1.

Until now there is no other detailed info about the Dimensity 9200. Maybe near the launch time there will be some other info about the latest chipset from MediaTek. Let’s just wait. [FY/HBS]
