Highly Awaited, Hogwarts Legacy Tops Wishlist on Steam

Hogwarts Legacy has been a dream for many Harry Potter fans, and the game immediately topped the list on Steam even though it hasn’t been released yet.

It seems gamers have also been missing a proper roleplaying game in the Wizarding World for a very long time.

With news of the release of Hogwarts Legacy in February 2023, excitement for the title has increased on social media, and Avalanche Studios has fueled gamers’ enthusiasm with trailers, gameplay videos, and press releases.

The premise of Hogwarts Legacy is quite simple: an open world roleplaying game set in the Wizarding World in which players attend Hogwarts as transfer students and engage in plot intrigue, mystery, and adventure.

Gamers will be able to create their own character, choose their own Hogwarts boarding house, and explore the intimate places of the Harry Potter saga at their own pace.

No doubt this sounds interesting to anyone who has read the book or seen and enjoyed the film, so Hogwarts Legacy topped the Steam wishlist showing that the game’s potential is huge and expectations are high for gamers and Harry Potter fans alike.

Hogwarts Legacy has also managed to beat games like Bethesda’s Starfield, which is on the same timeline and is tipped to be one of the biggest video game releases of 2023.

Hogwarts Legacy will be revealing about dark magic in the game, and gamers are likely to head into the exploration of the scary side of the Wizarding world, placing most of the game’s open world within the famous forbidden forest.

While it may not be an outright horror game, Hogwarts Legacy seems very interesting in learning the horror side of the game through side quests, such as the haunted hogsmeade shop, or even letting players unlock famous spells like the cruciate curse.

In addition to the areas outside the wizarding school grounds, the game will also emphasize exploring the remade Hogwarts halls, with each boarding house in Hogwarts Legacy having its own common room for players to relax.

Furthermore, players will be able to customize their own homes within a vivarium of necessities rooms, with the need rooms apparently serving as a base of operations for players in the game.

While some features like Quiddich won’t be in Hogwarts Legacy at launch, the game will receive extensive post-launch support by the development team.

Hogwarts Legacy has also received some backlash from PC, Xbox, and Switch fans over PlayStation-exclusive content that players from other consoles can’t access.

Meanwhile for PlayStation exclusive content on Hogwarts Legacy will likely be added sometime after launch. With this in mind it is clear that Avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. let fans know that the best way to enjoy the game at its premiere is on the PlayStation console.

Hogwarts Legacy will be available on February 10, 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Nintendo Switch version is currently under development. [FY/HBS]
