Rumors about Google’s first foldable smartphone have been rolling around for quite some time. The latest information reveals the design and price of a device that is said to be named Google Pixel Fold.

Currently, Google’s foldable smartphone is still in the development process and is one of the company’s most secretive projects. The Pixel Fold is expected to launch in May 2023, alongside the Pixel Tablet.

The launch event is rumored to take place at the opening of the annual Google I/O developer conference, which always takes place in May.

Later this folding smartphone made by Google will be available in two color versions, which Google calls Chalk, aka white and Obsidian, aka black.

A myriad of renders of the device have been leaked showing two color variants, and rebuilt based on 3D rendering. But unfortunately, there is no additional information regarding the specifications.

Previously, it was reported that the Google Pixel Fold would have a screen resolution of 1,840×2,208 pixels and could measure 123mm x 148mm. The inner display is claimed to offer peak brightness of up to 1200 nits with an average brightness of 800 nits.

As for the camera business, this flagship smartphone can pack a triple rear camera setup consisting of the main Sony IMX787 sensor.

According to an unnamed source, as quoted The telephone from GSMArena, It is claimed that the Pixel Fold will have performance similar to the regular version of the Google Pixel and will use Pixel’s flagship camera.

Google Pixel Fold Design and Pricing

One of the sources emphasized that the device is very heavy, although it did not specify in comparison what this weight is.

The Pixel Fold price has also been announced, where the device will sell for USD 1,799 or the equivalent of Rp. 27.9 million.

This price is the same as the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 when it was launched in the United States in August 2022. It looks like the Pixel Fold will be a competitor to the Z Fold in the future.

That said, by the time Google’s foldable device launches, the price of the Galaxy Z Fold4 must have dropped. So it remains to be seen if the Pixel Fold will have that point selling enough to persuade consumers to buy it.
