Acer Aspire 5 Slim Quick Review: Compact, Full Connectivity
Acer Aspire 5 Slim (A514-55) was revealed by Acer for the first time at the Acer Day 2022 event which took place in early August. In addition to being claimed to offer reliable performance with an easy character to upgrade, it also looks ergonomic, at an affordable price, and most importantly, has a variety of color choices to choose from.
We had the opportunity to take a closer look at the Aspire 5 Slim, and while we couldn’t really get a feel for its greatness, it did make us realize how compact a laptop is is what a lot of people, including us, might want. Overall, the Aspire 5 Slim is also a good all rounder.
On paper, the Acer Aspire 5 Slim is powered by 12th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors built with the latest hybrid architecture. This processor has two cores that manage different tasks. Performance core (P Core) to maximize performance; efficiency core (E Core) which provides efficiency of background tasks for maximum multitasking.

Aspire 5 Slim is divided into two variants, it is powered by Intel® Core™ i5-1235U processor and Intel® Core™ i7-1255U which has a total of 10 cores (2P core + 8E core) and 12 threads.
To complete it, Acer embeds 8 GB of RAM which can be increased up to 24 GB and fast performance NVME SSD type storage which has a capacity of 512 GB. As for graphics processing, there is Intel® Iris® Xe which is reliable in performance.
Display and Audio
The Acer Aspire 5 Slim packs a 14-inch 1080p display with Acer Color Intelligence. To some, 1080p may seem mediocre, but it’s still better. The 1080p resolution makes the Aspire 5 Slim easy to use and produces crisp text.
To support work from home or work from anywhere activities, the sound quality is also something you can rely on from the Acer Aspire 5 Slim, especially when making conference calls. The latest generation Acer PurifedVoice™ technology with AI Noise Reduction can actively reduce background noise and is compatible with headphones and external microphones.
Keyboard dan Touchpad
The Acer Aspire 5 Slim keyboard is arguably good. Not the softest, but still comfortable to type on. But whether it’s for a long time or a very long time, we think further testing will be needed. For the touchpad, the dimensions are quite wide and responsive. There’s also a fingerprint sensor all around.
But unfortunately, the placement of the power button in the far right corner is very close to the delete and backspace buttons. We wonder if this will easily get people to click wrong or not.
Water Inlet Keyboard Design
The Aspire 5 Slim has an Air Inlet Keyboard design that improves thermal performance and expels about 8-10% more hot air, compared to a keyboard without air inlets.
The cooling fan speed can be adjusted easily via the “Fn+F” key combination to switch to the mode you need, whether it is Silent, Normal and Performance.
Connectivity
The Acer Aspire 5 Slim uses its compact body to make room for plenty of connectivity. There are a total of three USB type A ports (two USB 3.2 and one USB 2.0); USB Type-C port supporting USB4® 40Gbps, 5V USB charging; 3 A, and DC-in port 20 V; 65W; 3.5mm audio jack; ethernet, HDMI and ThunderboltTM 4, which provides high-speed data transfer capabilities.
