Weird Bug Makes Pixel 7 Unable to Save Photos
Complaint after complaint continues to be made by Pixel 7 users. Most recently, a bug in this device was found to have affected the phone’s camera, or more specifically, the phone’s camera software. As a result, even the Pixel 7 cannot save photos.
In a video shared to Reddit by u/MintySkyhawk, the Pixel 7 Pro refuses to save zoomed PC photos. The phone is set to 5x zoom with the flash enabled — when this is reversed (by reducing or disabling the flash), the phone has no trouble saving new pictures to Gallery.
Several other Reddit users, as reported Reviewgeek on Sunday (12/03/2023), tried to do a similar action, and encountered the same problem.
Even more surprising, some users reported this issue to occur on the standard Pixel 7, which offers a maximum zoom of 2x (due to the lack of a telephoto lens).

ReviwGeek did a test on a standard Pixel 7 and found the bug in question right away. That said, the bug only occurs when shooting dark subjects.
Reddit user u/psnipes773 did some debugging. As a result, the bug appears to be related to the Google Camera app’s HDR function.
Additionally, Android Police found a correlation between this bug and Google Camera version 8.7.250.494820638.44. The Android software running on the Pixel 7 had nothing to do with this bug — even Pixel 7 devices running the latest Android 14 preview were affected, according to Android Police.
For Pixel 7 users who might want to test the bug themselves, you can simply point the Pixel 7’s camera at a dark subject, zoom in all the way, and turn on the flash. It will take the photo, but may refuse to save the photo.

Apart from complaints about difficulty saving photos, as experienced by Pixel 7 users recently, several other users have previously complained about many other things about the device.
