Receive One UI 4.1.1 Update, Old Samsung Folding Phone Gets New Features

Samsung’s older generation of foldable phones and smartwatches will soon be eligible for update to the latest version of One UI. That way, you can enjoy the latest features on your old Samsung folding cellphone.

Samsung foldable phones and older Samsung smartwatches are eligible to update to the latest version of One UI, delivering the latest features from Samsung.

New features like multitasking gestures, optimizations for large screen devices, improved first-party apps, and a PC-like taskbar for phones, and new watch faces and customizations for the Galaxy Watch.

Samsung One UI 4.1.1 is based on Android 12L, and was first released on newer devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. Samsung has started rolling out the UI 4.1.1 update globally for the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3, which will reach all users in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy Z Fold have also been confirmed to receive the One UI 4.1.1 update from Samsung in some countries, without providing a launch timeline.

Users of older Samsung foldable phones will be able to enjoy features like the Taskbar that lets you quickly switch between apps and apps drag-and-drop to create a separate view.

New two-finger gestures are also available for multitasking, allowing you to instantly switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows or split your screen in half for increased productivity.

Additional features present on the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 include the ability to adjust settings, make calls, redial missed calls and reply to texts (using voice-to-text) from cover screenas well as taking selfies with the main camera.

One UI Watch 4.5 first got its full release on the Galaxy Watch 5, and is now also coming to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. That means six new interactive watch faces and additional customization, as well as keyboard New QWERTY. Samsung has yet to provide a release date for the launch of the Watch 4.5.

The Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 2 have been confirmed to get separate software updates sometime in late September. This update will bring “preferred features” from One UI Watch 4.5, such as two new watch faces, snoring analysis, and support for blood pressure and ECG measurements in the Samsung Health Monitor app.
