Promised September Release, Vivo X80 Pro+ Launch Canceled

Vivo made a surprising announcement regarding the Vivo X80 Pro+ product. Vendors from China decided to cancel the launch of the Vivo X80 Pro+ to the market.

Quoted The telephone from GSM Arena on Tuesday (27/9/2022), Vivo made this statement after launching the Vivo X Fold+. The company did not provide a reason or detailed description of why the Vivo X80 Pro+ was canceled.

Vivo claims that it is currently focusing on preparing for the launch of the Vivo X90 Pro+ which is scheduled to be released in December 2022. The X90 Pro+ is packed with a 1-inch main sensor, a new telephoto sensor and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.

Then this latest Vivo cellphone will use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage with a Samsung E6 AMOLED screen. Hopefully, the Vivo X90 Pro+ plan will not be canceled like the X80 Pro+.

Previously, Vivo was rumored to be launching the Vivo X80 Pro+ in September 2022 in China. This latest Vivo 5G HP will complement other X80 Series such as the X80 and X80 Pro which were launched in early 2022 in China, and July 2022 in Indonesia.

The reason Vivo launched the X80 Pro+ was because the Vivo X80 Series duo received rave reviews in China. Even Vivo got the second place in the premium HP segment in Q2 2022 with 13% market share according to the report Counterpoint Research.

At that time, the X80 Pro+ was expected to debut with the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Chipsets that are currently used by several flagship smartphones such as the Xiaomi 12S Pro, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 and so on.

Apart from the chipset, improvements are also offered in terms of the camera. Based on the rumors circulating, the X80 Pro+ could include a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1, 50 MP ISOCELL JN2 and a 50 MP main sensor.
