Tokopedia’s Strategy to Encourage Female MSME Activists to Own NIB
Tokopedia continues to strive so that their MSME partners continue to develop, including having a Business Identification Number (NIB). Tokopedia also has its own strategy so that UMKM activists or female sellers have NIB.
It should be noted that the NIB is the identity of a business actor issued by the OSS Institution, in this case, the Ministry of Investment or BKPM after the business actor registers online.
By having an NIB, business actors can obtain various benefits such as easier access to bank financing, easy access to government programs and assistance and obtaining legal protection.
Therefore, since 2021 Tokopedia has collaborated with the Ministry of Investment in encouraging MSME activists, both women and men, to create NIB.

“Tokopedia is the first e-commerce company to work with the Ministry of Investment and other strategic partners to provide NIB facilities and outreach,” said Tokopedia’s Head of Public Relations Division, Rizky Juanita Azuz.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Tokopedia has its own strategy in encouraging MSME activists to create NIB. First by traveling around Indonesia, to meet to provide business education to MSMEs while at the same time inviting them to have an NIB.
“We carry out outreach by traveling to various cities to collect MSMEs that are already on Tokopedia or those that are not yet on Tokopedia, so they can register online for the NIB. We are working with the government in providing education to MSMEs that NIB is important,” said Rizky.
Next, by connecting to the Tokopedia Seller Education Center site or seller.tokopedia.com. On the site there is a complete article about Business Identification Numbers, as well as a link or links that when clicked will connect to the oss.go.id site which is a site for registering NIB.
“In the Seller Education Center there is a lot of information about what is NIB? What are the benefits? What are the conditions? later there will be a click on the link itself which will go directly to the OSS website where they can register,” continued Rizky.
The last way is to provide conditions related to Official Seller status on Tokopedia. Rizky revealed that in order to go up a class to the Official Store, Tokopedia merchants or sellers must have an NIB.

“To go up to the Official Store, they must have the NIB. That is how Tokopedia supports the government in providing NIB facilities and outreach to MSMEs,” Rizky explained through a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (06/03/2023).
Tokopedia’s strategy of inviting partners to create NIB has yielded positive results. Throughout 2022, Tokopedia together with the Ministry of Investment have helped more than 5,000 MSME activists from all over Indonesia to register for NIB.
