The year 2022 has ended, and during that year there were several successful smartphones in sales. Here are the 10 best selling cellphones in the world in 2022 and are any of your cellphones included in the list?
Market research institute Counterpoint Research released a list of the best-selling smartphones in the world for 2022. There are a total of 10 cellphones on the list, and this assessment is based on the market share controlled by each smartphone.
The results were surprising, the Apple iPhone, which was touted as a premium cellphone, actually controlled the list. In total, 8 out of 10 smartphones on the list are dominated by iPhones, both the iPhone 14 Series and the series below.
Meanwhile, their only competitor is Samsung, which contributes 2 smartphone variants, namely the Samsung Galaxy A13 and the Samsung Galaxy A03.

The ten best-selling HP in the world throughout 2022 are sorted based on their market share percentage, of total smartphone sales in the world.
1. iPhone 13
Even though it was released in 2021, consumer interest in buying this cellphone is relatively high. The proof is that the iPhone 13 is the best-selling cellphone in the world in 2022, with a market share of 5% of total sales.
According to Counterpoint, the iPhone 13 is selling well in the United States, Britain, China, Germany and France. This sales data was taken between September 2021 and August 2022.
2. iPhone 13 Pro Max
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has also caught the attention of consumers. Even though the price is the most expensive, the highest variant of the iPhone 13 Series is gaining sales success by occupying the second position of the best-selling HP in the world with a market share of 2.6%.
This cellphone was released in September 2021 and is superior in terms of the chipset that uses the Apple A15 Bionic and the Super Retina XDR OLED screen which is capable of providing a higher peak brightness for HDR content such as photos and videos at 1200 nits.
3. iPhone 14 Pro Max
The appearance of the iPhone 14 Pro Max in third place is quite interesting, because it dispelled the assumptions of those who judged that the high-end variant was less selling than the standard variant.
The proof is that the iPhone 14 Pro Max has succeeded in becoming the best-selling smartphone in 2022, with a market share of 1.7%.
4. Samsung Galaxy A13
This latest Samsung cellphone has succeeded in becoming Samsung’s representative on the best-selling HP list in 2022. This midrange cellphone from South Korea has a percentage market share that is slightly adrift with the iPhone 14 Pro Max of 1.6%.
5. iPhone 13 Pro
iPhone 13 Pro is in fifth position with the same market share as the Galaxy A13, which is 1.6%. This Apple cellphone was also released in September 2021 with a main 12 MP camera which is supported by Cinematic mode to capture cinematic-style moments.
6. iPhone 12
Usually after the latest iPhone appears, the previous iPhone series will be abandoned. However, this does not apply to the iPhone 12 which is still selling well even though it was released in 2020.
Referring to the Counterpoint Research report, the iPhone 12 is much sought after by consumers in the United States, Japan and China. It’s no wonder that this cellphone is in sixth position with a market share of 1.5%.
7. iPhone 14
Apple’s latest cellphone must compete with the previous iPhone series on the list of best selling cellphones in 2022. Fortunately, the iPhone 14 is still accepted by consumers so that it occupies seventh position with a market share of 1.4%.
8. iPhone 14 Pro
iPhone 14 Pro is in the final position with 1.2% market share. This cellphone is rich in interesting features such as Satellite SOS and Dynamic Island which are also a differentiator from other smartphones on the market.
