Winning Lots, Samsung Controls 70% of iPhone 14 OLED Screen Production
Despite being competitive, Apple has so far appointed Samsung Display, the largest OLED screen maker at the moment, as its main supplier. In fact, more than 70% of the iPhone 14 OLED screen panels will be supplied from Samsung Display.
Samsung Display is the biggest player in the OLED display market. That is one of the main reasons Apple uses the OLED panel from its heavy competitor.
According to recent reports, Samsung will supply more than 70% of the OLED panels for the iPhone 14 series, including the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models that use regular panels and the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max which will use LTPO display panels.

Korean media TheElec revealed that Apple plans to produce 120 million units of its newest iPhone series, of which at least 80 million will use screen panels made by Samsung.
While more than 20 million other units will use screens from LG Display, and around 6 million will use screens made by BOE, China’s largest display panel maker. Meanwhile, the supplier for the remaining units has yet to be determined.
The report also reveals that Samsung and LG Display are providing panels for all four versions of the iPhone 14, while BOE only manufactures the 6.1-inch LTPS OLED for the standard iPhone 14 model.
Out of 80 million units, Samsung Display expects more than 60 million units for the Pro model, as it is a better performing version of the standard model.

Meanwhile, LG Display is reportedly facing issues on the production line, which might benefit Samsung as it will get a bigger share of its compatriot.
Not only is LG Display having problems, BOE is also in a position of being threatened with terminating its contract, after sales of the iPhone 14 have slumped. In addition, this Chinese manufacturer is also threatened with sanctions from the Cupertino giant, for changing the circuit design without talking to Apple. [FY/HBS]
