The Film Industry is Growing, Sony VENICE 2 Enters Indonesia
Sony Indonesia is adding to its camera product portfolio in Indonesia, by releasing the Sony VENICE 2 and FE 50mm F1.4 GM. Camera and lens equipment that is here to answer the need for a good camera, as the film industry is growing in the country.
The VENICE 2 is the latest flagship model to add to Sony’s line of high-end digital cinema cameras. Building on the strengths of its predecessor VENICE, the VENICE 2 has many new features, and inherits popular features from previous models to further enhance operability and versatility.
In addition, the FE 50mm F1.4 GM is a compact lens that is the latest addition to Sony’s full-frame G Master lens lineup that delivers outstanding resolution, beautiful bokeh and fast autofocus in an extremely compact and lightweight design.
“We are introducing two of our newest digital imaging products, namely the VENICE 2 & FE 50mm F1.4 GM. Both are here to meet the need for sophisticated camera devices from content creators and professional videographers,” said President Director of PT Sony Indonesia, Koji Sekiguchi.
Apart from that, Koji also sees the camera device market, especially to support very large video recording. He refers to the increasing number of films, series and also video content that certainly requires a qualified camera device.
“The market for cinematographic camera users in Indonesia is relatively large as the film industry, be it in cinemas or OTT services, is growing. Moreover, these two products do not only target film industry players, but also YouTubers and other content creators,” continued Koji.

Sony VENICE 2 is divided into 2 models, namely VENICE 2 with an 8.6K image sensor and a 6K model. The difference between the two refers to the video resolution produced during the recording process.
“The new 8K sensor can capture images up to a maximum resolution of 8640 x 5760 pixels, while the existing 6K sensor offers up to 6048 x 4032 pixels,” said Head of Digital Imaging Product Marketing Sony Indonesia, Takeshi Hatanaka.
In addition, these two types of cameras also have a Dual Base ISO feature. For VENICE 2 8K the ISO size can be changed from 800 to 3200 or vice versa. Meanwhile, the 6K image sensor Base ISO can be changed from 500 to 2500 or vice versa.
“So far, for recording at night or in a dark room, the cameraman has to adjust the camera exposure again and this process can make noise in the camera. However, this problem is resolved with the Dual Base ISO feature which is able to adjust ISO sensitivity easily,” said Takeshi.
Regarding the body, Takeshi claims that this camera has a tough body and has gone through various endurance tests. So that the camera can be invited to shoot in various conditions.
“The VENICE 2 chassis is engineered to be extremely strong and rigorously tested in the harshest conditions and the main frame structure allows for a more durable body design,” explains Takeshi.

Apart from the camera, Sony also introduced the FE 50mm F1.4 GM lens. This lens is quite compact because it is only 96 mm long and weighs 516 grams.
This 50 mm lens from Sony is powered by XD Linear Motors to provide fast and accurate autofocus images, as well as XA Lens Elements which are capable of providing high resolution images.
In addition, the lens settings are also easy and complete. Starting from the Aperture Ring button, Aperture Ring Click, Focus Button, Focus Mode Switch, Focus Ring and Iris Lock.
Harga Sony VENICE 2 dan FE 50mm F1.4 GM
The price for the FE 50mm F1.4 GM is IDR 20,999,000, and Sony is opening pre-orders for this product from March 3 to March 17 2023 via the website www.sony.co.id. As for the Sony VENICE 2, Sony did not mention the price but said that the product is already available in Indonesia.
Through a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (03/03/2023), Sony Indonesia also announced that it would hold the Sony Alpha Festival 2023. This event will be held on March 4-5 2023, at Ciputra Artpreneur, South Jakarta.
