Qualcomm announced that it will launch the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chipset on March 17, 2023. Here are the leaked specifications of the chipset.

The American chip maker has just confirmed that it will be holding an event on March 17, 2023. Qualcomm did not provide detailed information regarding what products were released.

However, many people think that the chipsets for the event next week will be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1. It must be admitted that the news about the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 launch has been busy since last year.

Even at that time there was information that there were 2 smartphones that would be powered by this chipset, namely the Realme GT Neo 5 Lite/SE and the Poco X5 GT.

Quoted from Telset from Gizchina on Sunday (12/03/2023), it was also explained about the leaked specifications of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. This chipset has 1 x ARM Cortex-X2 core with a clock speed of 2.92 GHz, 3 x ARM Cortex-A710 cores at 2.5 GHz, and 4 x ARM Cortex-A510 cores clocked up to 1.8 GHz.

The GPU used is Adreno 725 with a clock speed of 580 Hz. It’s hard to confirm right now whether these leaks are true or false, but these specs would make it the first mid-range SoC with a Cortex-X2 core.

Interestingly, the chipset has some similarities with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 series. For example, the GPU of the chipset uses the Adreno 725, which means it is one level below the Snapdragon 730 in the 8 Gen 1 series.

Next question clock speed and amount core will determine whether performance is similar. Score Geekbench demonstrates superior performance to MediaTek Dimensity 8200 and comparable to Dimensity 9000.
