Gorilla Glass Victus 2 Is Stronger When Dropped On Rough Surfaces
Corning Gorilla Glass screen protector has been used in many high-end smartphones. Now the company promises a tougher display with its newest version, Victus 2, which is claimed to be more powerful.
Reported Engadgetthe use of a new glass composition makes the Victus 2 stronger, especially when the screen is dropped directly against a rough textured surface, such as concrete.
Not only that, but Gorilla Glass Victus 2 also still has the same resistance to scratches as its predecessor, Gorilla Glass Victus.

The first Gorilla Glass Victus was released two years ago and it is promised that the user’s device screen can survive a fall from a height of two meters or about 6.5 feet. Now the latest version promises more powerful enhancements.
Corning says it made its Gorilla Glass Victus 2 durable enough to withstand a drop from average height at the waist or from a pocket onto a rougher textured undersurface.
It’s also worth noting that today’s smartphones are 15 percent heavier and 10 percent larger in size than four years ago, which increases the pressure on the device’s screen.
“In laboratory tests, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 withstood a one-meter drop on concrete,” the company said.
On the other hand, its competitors cannot yet exert force on glass that falls at half a meter or less.
In addition, according to the company, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 can survive a 2-meter fall on the asphalt surface and has a scratch resistance up to 4 times better than the aluminosilicate of its competitors.
Even so, there is still no word on which devices will get this Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection first. As a reminder, claims to be safe when dropped on rough surfaces are based on tests conducted in a laboratory, unlike cell phone accidents which are usually intentional.

The glass maker also said that Victus 2 is designed for more than 8 billion devices and 45 major brands.
One of them is most likely Apple, because the Cupertino-based company is a major investor in the company, after they invested as much as USD 250 million several years ago. [FY/IF]
