iPhone 14 Uses Lightweight Foldable Projector to Reduce Notch Size
A patent from Apple to the relevant authorities hints at the appearance of the iPhone 14, which may use a lightweight folding projector to reduce the size of the notch.
The iPhone 14, the Pro model, has been reported to feature a perforated screen with a pill-shaped cutout. Unlike the iPhone 2022 non-Pro models.
New iPhone non-Pro models may get a smaller notch. As per the report, the patent does not explicitly mention which model will use the technology.
Nevertheless, like The telephone quote from Gadgets360as of Friday (26/8/2022), the lightweight foldable projector will likely be available on all models of the iPhone 14 series.

Patently Apple citing a patent to the USPTO reported, the technology has a variety of components, including cameras and infrared light emitters (IR). There is also a “light folding element” that has the ability to direct IR light to help reduce component footprint and provide a large area on the screen.
The patent explains that the light-folding element can provide “more flexibility” for positioning the IR light emitter with other components.
The IR light folding element can change the direction of IR light transmission, eliminating the need to install IR light emitters in specific locations.
The new iPhone Pro and iPro Max will get a pill-shaped cutout. iPhone 2022 standard and Max versions will get notch smaller.
Apple has not confirmed the development of the model. However, reports suggesting a design change to the 2022 iPhone series have leaked several times.
In one case, an image of the front panel of an iPhone model was leaked. Recently, the dummy of the allegedly leaked Pro model showed a pill-shaped hole design.
